The Flying Squadron, or, in its native French: L’Escadron Volante. A group of seductress spies created, and nurtured by the extraordinary Catherine De Medici in 16th Century France. Catherine, spurned by her husband, enlisted the support of her ladies in waiting and set them on espionage missions against her husband’s colleagues with an approach well suited to the extraordinarily hedonistic abandon that the French Court was famous for. Legendary figures like Charlotte de Sauve, who became mistress to Catherine’s son Henry, passed important matters of state to the Matriarch. Through their relentless seductions, Catherine effectively ruled France on the death of her husband and subsequent succession of his two sons.
